  • Thom Marshall has been creating illustrations and visual elements for the Herald-Dispatch since 1990. A multi-award winner, his visuals are fresh, insightful and full of humor. His admitted favorite time of year is football season when his Herd Gameday cover illustrations describe the Thundering Herd's weekly challenges on the gridiron. He has also produced many celebrity caricatures, portraits and conceptual art to help present the news. Born and raised in Ashland, he is a 1988 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, devoted husband and proud father of three.

"WE ARE MARSHALL"

  • "We Are Marshall," the 2006 Warner Bros. Pictures film tells the story of the Marshall University football team after a 1970 plane crash that killed all 75 people aboard, including most of the team members, staff and many fans. Much of the film was shot in and around Huntington the spring of 2006.
